Unfortunately at this present
time we have no known exact cause, however in
saying that symptoms like personal traumas or
stress have not been ruled out and are believed
to influence the disorder.
Even from an early
age where there may have been emotional damage
in childhood combined with genetic factors has
been under investigation as to being one of the
factors contributing to bipolar
disorder.
Bip
olar
disorder normally first appears in
adulthood but can happen sooner. Children
are not exempt from contracting this
medical illness. In many cases, a child
is often misdiagnosed. Bipolar and its
affects on a patient fluctuate between
periods of severe depression or mania
interspersed by periods of relative calm.
In other words suffer from ups and downs.

The three crucial
elements of this disorder need to be determined
so the appropriate treatment can be carried out
or the right medication to be
prescribed.
1. Manic symptoms
2. Depressive symptom 3. Cycle
moods
1. Patients with manic
symptoms are often described as being like a
cyclone. The patient can experience elevated
moods or euphoria, increased activity and
forced fast speech, along with grandiose
delusions. Other happenings which affect the
sufferer are hallucinations, less sleep
patterns, increased appetite for food and sex.
If you feel that you have reason for concern
about your health – then you must speak to your
doctor.
If you have a
better understanding on Bipolar disorder – then
matters may ease on how to control and manage
some of the stressful experiences.
2. The symptoms of
depression include feeling down (low mood),
interrupted sleep, loss of appetite, a sense of
pessimism, loss of interest in sexual activity,
reduced ability to concentrate, and recurrent
thoughts of death and suicide.
3. Both types of
symptoms happen in cycles, which come in
different varieties:
Symptoms of mania
can be followed by symptoms of depression in an
almost regular pattern. It is a good idea to
jot down your experiences and the times they
occur, this will help you and your doctor
understand what medication or what approach to
take on how to calm the condition. Mood changes
can happen over a period of time which ranges
from days to months. Less commonly, some people
may experience only depression or mania, but
within a regular recurring pattern
Bipolar disorder
can be confusing to understand if not explained
in clear detail - as to what a patient can
expect to happen if they suffer from the
condition.
It's
possible for a person to have many of the
symptoms of mania while at the same time
suffer from depressive thoughts. This has
been noticed especially in cases where
the patient has insight into what's
happening to them. The symptoms of mania
may not sound to stressing, however where
in fact it can be quite the opposite
where the sufferer feels as though they
are losing control.
About one 1% of
people develop bipolar disorder in their
lifetime. The risk is even greater if Bipolar
disorder runs in the family to 12%.
Is there a cure
for bipolar disorder at this time, none that we
know of?
