Vertigo - Why do so many
believe that a person suffering from vertigo is
mad or even more alarming the sufferer them
self. Before making any assumptions about the
condition it is best to know more about the
condition. Vertigo, a symptom of a balance
disorder, is the illusion of movement when no
movement is present. This can be caused by a
problem of the inner ear balance mechanisms, or
by a problem in the brain.
This may all sound
frightening but vertigo is otherwise known to
be harmful if you are affected by the
condition, however in contrast and
contradicting the latter vertigo can be a sign
of a seriousness if accompanied by difficulty
in speaking walking or suffer from
severe
headaches
or double vision. What are the causes of
vertigo, vertigo causes are of many but
the more common are
Inflammation
or infection of the inner ear, these
infections can lead to loss of hearing if
not treated immediately and severe
migraines. Cerebellar haemorrhages, can
cause vertigo because of decreased blood
flow to the brain. In this case, vertigo
is accompanied by more serious symptoms
such as difficulty in walking and
impaired vision. If you suffer from any
of the above does not label you as
insane, there are other factors as to
being the cause and this information can
be found online or better still why not
talk to your doctor about the symptoms of
vertigo.Benign paroxysmal positional
vertigo or BPPV, is caused by an inner
ear problem and is the most common cause
of vertigo it is characterized by sudden
and severe episodes that are nonetheless
not serious. If you at any time or some
one close to you experiences any health
matter that gives you reason
for
concern
regardless of it relating to vertigo or
not – you must consult your doctor so he
she can determine what condition you are
suffering from.
A
series of tests will have to be carried
out to determine that a patient has
vertigo. First diagnostic test may
normally include a hearing examination,
an electronystagmography or test of the
vestibular system, and cat scan scans of
the brain. Not all but some hospitals
have the ability to use a posturography,
a specially designed purpose swaying
platform on which the patient tries to
maintain balance.
As we all differ
in the way we suffer from any type of illness
so will the treatment or medication we use.
Treatments for vertigo will vary because of
what type, meaning, severe or mild symptoms. If
the cause of vertigo is a bacterial infection
of the middle ear, the problem can easily be
treated with antibiotics - the more severe
vertigo, ear, nose, and throat (ENT) then
surgery maybe recommended. Always ask your
doctor if you are in doubt about any issues
concerning your vertigo.
